Our People
BSc Hons Biokinetics | Founder
Lara chose biokinetics as a profession because it combines her passions in life. She loves working with people and is passionate about movement as a tool in recovery — helping people rehabilitate after an operation or injury, manage chronic conditions, improve their functional capabilities, and achieve optimal health and wellness. After sustaining a career-ending shoulder injury while playing collegiate tennis in the States, she realised how disabling and life-altering injuries can be. Lara has a special interest in orthopaedic rehabilitation and geriatrics, with over 15 years of experience treating conditions ranging from the post-operative individual to the professional athlete.
She believes that if we move better, we can live better — exercise, in essence, is medicine, and rehabilitation can be fun.
BHSc Hons Biokinetics (Wits)
Alicia is a dedicated Biokineticist with a strong interest in neurological, paediatric, orthopaedic & sport rehabilitation. She completed her BSc in Human Movement Science and Physiology at NWU followed by her BHSc Honours in Biokinetics at Wits University. Her internship was completed at Lara Leech Biokinetics and she has been with the practice for the last 4 years and has gained hands-on experience in both the clinical and community settings, working with patients across all age groups and conditions.
Her approach to biokinetics is patient-centred and holistic, with a focus on empowering individuals and their families to actively participate in their recovery. Alicia has a particular passion for working with athletes, children, and individuals living with long-term conditions, helping them regain independence, confidence, and quality of life.
In addition to her clinical work, Alicia has been actively involved in animal welfare organisations for over five years and enjoys horse riding, which continues to strengthen her appreciation for movement, balance, and rehabilitation — values that also guide her professional practice. This compassion and commitment carry through into her professional life, where she strives to provide care that is both evidence-based and empathetic.
Alicia looks forward to continuing her journey in Biokinetics, contributing to her community by providing accessible, effective, and personalised rehabilitation services.
